mars black, the color of this sky,
churns with a few dim stars
solid ground brings stiff comfort
to an aching back
she'll return, someday

bottles of blackberry merlot
litter the ground
I'll eventually throw it all away
till then they remain
symbols of the trash she left behind

leaving a visible lesson to learn
another chance should not be given
yet when she comes back
all will be forgotten, forgiven
three chances isn't unreasonable

only a few weeks pass
she has come and gone again
a heart once sewn back together
lies in unsalvageable pieces
someday I'll learn
