Beyond the Swaying Sea Oats
A poem, written on the beach of a turquoise ocean.

Come approach this heavenly shore
Look over the dune with swaying oats
To the face of the sea
Between the white fingers of sand

Move across to the barren ground
And away from the grass that barely peeks
To the earth's sandy back
Where the grains of sand stick to your feet

Beautiful, here is the sun
Heating my skin and burning my hairs
Lighting my sight and lighting my soul
Wrapping hot arms inside and out of my being

Beautiful, the sun wouldn't shine to me as bright
Nor would it warm my heart
Had you been elsewhere than here
With your smile and your eyes shining behind your thin strands of hair
