when winter disappeared
the disappearance of more than snow

don't talk, just listen
the nights were long
and the days short
it was peace and joy
if only for a month

clear icicles hung in military rows
waiting their turn to fall

snow swirled around, with brief rests
our perpetual existence in a snow globe
that someone now and then
gave a gentle shake to see the crystals
dance around again

it was like a beautiful dream
that we never wanted to end

things changed, as they often do
we couldn't hold on to those nights
as day grew stronger, love became weak
until one day it was gone
when winter disappeared

crystals no longer dance
shattered and gone, leaving nothing
but a broken snow globe
