I am here
A short poem(?) based on Voices of a Distant Star (Complete)

Can you hear my calls?
The voice of a distant star.
We are so very far apart. But what if?
If thoughts could transcend time and space.
One thought, if one thought could be sent directly from me to you, what would it be?

A simple message sent across vast distance.
Humble and alone, it bravely makes it way.
What is the message?
It’s not “I want to hear your voice”.
It’s not “Thank you for our memories which give me strength daily”.

I don’t think about why someone as great as you loved unimportant me.
When you left, your final smile was a directive “Don’t you dare forget me!”
So here’s my acknowledgement.
It’s not “I promise to never lose my devotion to you”.
It’s not “Our short happy love is now sometimes blissful torture”.

Night turns into day turns into month.
Knowing it is unrefined, I still make this decision.
I gather my tears, write them on hope and send this message into the sky .
I know it must have already reached you.
It is the same one you sent me just now.

The message?

I am here.
