Whispering Wishes My heart is filled with whispering wishes, They flutter like butterflies. You have no idea they are around 'Til they flit before your eyes. I've lived life being content With things God has provided, But whispering wishes enter my heart Without even being invited. They whisper of places where I've not been, Of things I never have done. They whisper of people I have not met Of races I never have run. They whisper of wonders I've not yet seen, Of pleasures I do not know. The wishes, oh yes they whisper. They whisper wherever I go. And if it weren't for these whispers That are always with me, it seems, I would have nothing to look forward to, Nothing to fill up my dreams. May I always hear the whispering wishes, May I see them go fluttering by. The sad day I no longer can hear them Is the day I'll curl up and die.
