Warm blankets surround your premature, breathless body;
Inducing warmth, suctioning; initiating life
To your unresponsive, lifeless form.
Helpless, you enter this world addicted to meth and cocaine;
Drugs passed to you as often as nutrition was.
Respirations controlled by a machine, as your body
Awakens slowly to face tremors and pain. No tears only
Whistle-like noise from the machine breathing for you.
An addiction you did not choose or want,
Leaving you with physical and mental disabilities.
Saying a prayer for you as I hold you in my heart.
