WRITERS BLOCK - An ABC Darius

A
pparently this new form of poetry can be understood,
Believing that anything can be learned if applied, so
Courting disaster, I will give it a good college try!
Dementia may have set in, for I am at a loss, it seems
Everyday thoughts creep in and the muse is gone,
Folly for me to think that I can conquer all things but
Giving it a try is worth the effort, one learns by doing.
Hopefully, I type in words from what's left of my mind.
Interestingly enough, some of them even make sense.
Jet black letters on a blank piece of paper congeal,
Kept to a minimum and trying to eliminate boredom;
Leaving the reader to wonder why I tried at all, perhaps.
Mastering the poetic art form is a cinch, I think to myself.
Nothing can keep me from entering the ABC Fun Contest!
Openly brazen, I type on, up against a solid brick wall,
Purposely using what's left of vocabulary to finish the challenge.
Quickly I re-read my words, the message really not clear.
Reality sets in and I fear that I may self-destruct as an author;
Supreme sacrifice to the critics and those who judge, I am
Trapped in a world of my own making, typing my heart out.
Utterly ignorant of what I am trying to get across, I am a
Victim of circumstance, swallowed up by those who have
Writers Block, yet who can produce something sensible.
X-rays of my mind will tell all that my brain cells quiver.
Youthful minds seem to have no problem at all, full of
Zest for life and all it has to offer, while I lament the truth.
