Pray About Me

Many times as I kneel to pray
Getting what I want, seems to be my way
To pray for others is really the key
Yet so often, it seems, I pray about me
One day I found the greatest calm
As I read from the book of Psalms
It was quite a shock for me to see
David also prayed about "Me"

"Deliver, defend, and lead me he'd say
Purge me, wash, and teach me your ways
Judge me, show me, answer me this day
Vindicate me, give me and guide me always
Preserve me, prove me, set me free
Keep me, make me, save me is the key
Help me, hear me and hide me he'd sigh
Remember me, rescue me was his cry
Examine me, and make me white as snow
Cleanse me, uphold me if you might
Try me, visit me set my life right"

Straight from the heart David did pray
Examples show at least three a day
With attitudes as these listed above
It's no wonder David had God's love
And now I know when I bow on my knee
That it's not wrong to pray about Me
