Dear Me,
One of the last major things that happened before 2006 became 2007 was the hanging of Iraq's former President, Saddam Hussein. Even now, I can't believe that they really went through with it. Don't think, even for a minute, that I was ever a supporter of his--not when it came to the crimes against humanity that would eventually lead him to the gallows, anyway--but, also, don't think, even for a minute, that I supported his execution. If I oppose the death penalty, I have to oppose it for Saddam Hussein just as I opposed it for the more sympathetic Karla Faye Tucker-Brown. In some ways, I oppose it even more for Saddam due to the anger that his execution has stirred up--anger that has already spilled the blood of innocent people. In 2007, I'll definitely be keeping active in doing my part to try to abolish the death penalty once and for all--but it won't stop there. Actually, it never HAS stopped there. And it hasn't all been about the death penalty, either! It's been about having a call to help people who are falling through the cracks of society in one way or another. My resolution began before I took up my Cyberpen to write it down, and it will go on well beyond the words of this paper--even well beyond 2007--but one way I'm going to keep my resolution is to keep up my two main blogs here: Anyone reading them will find lots of helpful information that will bring people from all parts of the world a little closer--and, hopefully, more willing to learn the ways of peace. Although there might be time when I go to a different handle for some occasion or another, I've decided that I now have the perfect handle (suser + emoticon): and all I need to do is to change the costumicon to provide variety. Right now, I resolve to toss out a few links that I believe will be helpful and inspiring to those who read this with the promise of more to come in blog-entries... In short, what I want to do in 2007 is the same as I've done in 2006--and years before--but to do it all that much better. I want to do not quite so well in 2007 as I will in 2008 and the years beyond that When 2007 draws to a close, I hope to be closer to God's plan for my life--and, besides what I've mentioned above, this means, imo, a less-cluttered home (not to mention a more organized life in general) and a healthier body (hopefully, in a much-smaller clothing size). I would also like to work towards having more in the bank, but, if I keep the rest of my resolutions as best as I can, I know that, no matter what my bank account shows, I'm going to be very rich in all the ways that matter! For now, I'll close this letter, remember its words, and act on those words! AJ Looking On The Bright Side
