The Lonely Trunk
by Dairesse L. English I hold precious things of memories and gold. I hold love letters written by young hearts now old. I lock away time preserved within timber. I keep forgotten moments for late to remember. Behind my lock, find secrets lost to years past. Behind my silence, hear words that will forever last. Open my cover, for there are flowers now dry from age. Open to see ribbons and worn binding when turning the page. There is warmth hidden, as quilts by weathered hands were sewn. There are faces forever saved though the winds of long years have blown. Though there may be dust as I am easily misplaced, I remain holding steady. Though my cover my creak when opened, I remain patient until you are ready. So this I am a lonely trunk sitting in a corner without light. So this I am a lonely trunk waiting to once again sit in sight. -END-
