Time Stood Still

As the planes hit The Towers,
Time no longer cared.
Upon seeing such awful horror,
Time just stood, and stared.

The fireball that erupted
Made Time close her eyes.
She put her fingers in her ears
To shut out the terrified cries.

When once again, Time looked around
She saw The Towers fall.
There were dust-covered people
Running from the ashy pall.

Then, Time, ever so slowly,
Started to move once more.
She remembered mankind's cruelty
To others had happened before.

Time remembered ovens, and torture,
And attempted genocide.
She clenched her hands into a fist,
And believe it or not, Time cried.

But then, she looked around once more;
A woman gave a hug to stranger,
A young man saw a grandma,
And pulled her from the danger.

Firemen entered the buildings
When they heard children shout.
The children got to safety,
But the Firemen never came out.

So, Time got back to business
Ticking steadily, as before;
For even though there are awful men,
The good-ones number is more.
