tell me, if I were to die tomorrow
and sorrow did pry hope from your soul would my memory be a cherished gift thrown as a wish in a sacred bowl? tell me, if angels really do exist will I remain with you together on a heavenly earth in guarded peace? tell me, will I be dead forever? tell me if our tears will turn into stone monuments spinning remembered tales will angels sing ruby songs of weeping and let my heart keep tomorrow's sails? tell me, if my death does not frighten you will I not grow old ten times anew? questions of immortality [2007.14.1...d] Author's Note: This poem was written in the Toddaid form. This form contains three complications which include alternating lines of 10 and 9 syllables per quatrain; the second and fourth line must rhyme in each one; and an interior rhyme for each pair of lines : a syllable close to the end of the first and third lines of each quatrain is repeated near the middle of the second and fourth lines. To close my poem I have added an additional rhyming couplet.
