Love Happens
This is just something I wrote on a whim. Please review.

I had pretty much given up on love. I figured it just wasn't something for me. Relationships and I just didn't seem to work out. So when I walked out of my house that afternoon, love was the furthest thing from my mind.
We were in the melting stages of an ice storm and I had been stuck in the house with nothing to do for days. If I didn't get out and do something, I would most likely kill myself. So I bundled up, grabbed my camera, and went for a walk.
I had gotten almost to the creek and had taken several pictures of the icy scenery, when I heard the sound of vehicles roaring behind me. I stepped to the side of the road, out of the way, but continued on, ignoring the motors ever moving closer. I recognized the sounds to be that of two four-wheelers slowing down as they neared me.
"Hey, yall weather out the storm okay?" It was the voice of one of our older neighbors, Cal.
"Yeah, pretty much. We lost electricity there for awhile, but we're okay. I just got bored out of my mind and had to get out."
"I know what you mean. This is the first day Grandad's let me get out on the four-wheelers. Too much ice." The second driver had caught up with Cal. As he spoke, our eyes met and that was all it took.
"Jo, this is my grandson, Matt. His family moved down earlier this week, just in time for the storm. Matt, this is Jo. She lives in the house just up the road."
"Nice to meet you," Matt said with a smile and never breaking eye contact.
"It's nice to meet you as well."
I heard a quiet chuckle from Cal as he invited me to join them for a ride, showing Matt around.
"If your parents don't mind, of course."
"Oh, they won't mind." I answered with a smile.
That was probably the best day of my life. I finally found love, or rather love found me, walking down my road. I learned a valuable lesson that day that I will always carry with me.
Love Happens. When you least suspect it...
Love Happens.
