Butterfly Wings

You taught me well
To get what’s wanted I must excel

I want to spread my wings
No more fighting over stupid little things

I need to spread my wings and fly away
even if the path is grey

Through the years you’ve done no wrong
Through the years you have been so strong

And any lesson is good if it helps you grow
And through the years I have grown as you know

I use to pull on your apron strings
Hoping that you would bring me things

Now i stand on my two feet
Never let my self see defeat

You taught me well
To get what’s wanted I must excel

It’s time for me to grow and fly away
With all the lessons you thought I threw away
