With Thoughts of You

With thoughts of you
I walk the sunset beach
and hear the rolling surf
whispering your name.

In a crescendo of prayer
each flotsam burdened wave
deposits on the shore
its humble offering.

From my memory
strains of Mozart
lend their melody
in concert with the sea.

The sun, a dying ember
robed in purple
bows in supplication
to the darkening horizon.

The cloak of night
gathers about the sky
and I am left
with thoughts of you
