Today is your first day of school
An education will give you the right tools
Right now you're learning your ABC's
There's so much to learn wait and see

You'll learn about history and make new friends
A learning experience that will never end
Reading and writing is so much fun
You'll learn about numbers one by one

Going to school will give you so much joy
Just remember you'll always be my little boy
I wonder what you'll be when you grow up
A hockey player who wins a Stanley Cup

You can be anything, an astronaut or a writer
Maybe save lives like a Fire Fighter
What ever you decide you want to be
I want you to know it's cool with me
