Paranoia
That feeling you get at night that you just can't get rid of

This poem has been published in The XPress, a local newspaper in the area.

It lurks
In every shadow
It works
In every fear
It breeds
In every nightmare
It feeds
On every tear

A demon's ugly face
A sight you can't erase
It's crawling under your bed
It's filling you with dread
The monster that you hate
Is the thing that you create
It's paranoia

It builds
Its strength through darkness
It kills
Without a care
Your mind
Is your enemy
Behind
You don't know where

Look into its eye
And know that you will die
Afraid of what's not shown
Afraid of the unknown
A fate that's worse than pain
Lives within your brain
It's paranoia
