Prisoner of Meter

Imprisoned
         longing to bounce
                   along some rhythmic line

My brain
         solicits amnesty
                   and light verse

Pardon this mind
         labored to hard sentence
                   of breaking thoughts

A first offender
         of laws of penta
                    or any other meter.

Leave the anapests
         the bell has rung
                   I'm out of here!
