Dear Me,
This is your Life Purpose Department, located in the small corner of your brain just past the 90% that is useless to you, writing you to tell you that this year, you wish to become published. You don’t care when or how. Just don’t hurt anybody, or yourself, to do it, as we will not be liable for any injuries given or received as you go about achieving this goal, or any goal for that matter.
You also wish to ‘diversify’ your portfolio by picking up a different pen, so to speak, and trying your hand at some other genres. Yes, erotica is nice, but to be honest with you, you kind of have to be in the mood for it, if you catch my drift. Try some horror, or maybe mystery, to spice things up a bit. And yes, I already know that whatever you write is going to have at least two people in it forced together by circumstance, but let’s try to keep the number of people to two and the details on the love-making down to a minimum, okay? Thanks!
You’ve been trying to write down Laura’s story for some time now, ever since you met her translucent ectoplasm so many years ago. You will finally finish this, do you understand me! Finish it! She deserves it and so do you so get your butt moving! Move! Move! Move!
And you will also focus on your poetry this year. You’re coming along quite nicely as a poet but you need to be better. You can always get better, and achieve more, with hard work and dedication, and this you will do with your poetry. There’s probably a poem in that, so work on it. No slacking!
I know this is a lot to handle in addition to all of your university studies, but we here at your friendly Life Purpose Department want to congratulate you on a job well done so far, and to let you know that we are here to support you in all your endeavors…Even if you fail, which you won’t…
Sincerely,
The Tiny Little Part of Your Brain That Motivates You
