"Blessed Days Alive"
My perspective on 9/11 and it's aftermath.

An indifferent morning
advances undisturbed
thoughtless routines merge
with selfish concerns

Surging steel unsuspected
pierce massive towers paired
virulent clouds of smoke
consume a deflated sky

Sobering eyes
scan the surreal bleakness
of disconnected time
sullen faces trace
the darkening terror

A country's imperiled innocence
collapses in hatred's fire
shadowed chaos
alters a collective spirit

An exacting fate
solicits a shared response
an invulnerable homeland exposed
unites in unquestioning allegiance

Shifting realities
challenge freedom's hold
anguished souls
find solace in faith, family and community

Strength and courage
displace fear and confusion
a surviving light
guides a nation
blessed with meaningful days alive
