Sparkling are your eyes
mischievous and wide your grin
rapid and many the words you speak
which I listen intently to time and again

When the light inside is dim
yours always burns bright
when tears flow to fast
you slow them down in the night

You know only how to love
you know not how to hate
you don't feel pain around you
may happiness be your fate

Let me feel the warmth of your hugs
let me feed of your inimitable smile
let your dark eyes remain lit
as your spirit grows all the while

Let your excitable ways excite
let me shield you from harms way
let me gain strength from your exuberance
let God's light shine on you everyday

Let your tears be few
and your joys many
let your fears fade
and your triumphs be plenty

Let your sleep be peaceful when the night deepens
let angels rest comfortably at your side
and when the daybreak warms your face
I will be there for you to confide

Let me share in your delight
let me help rid your sorrow
let us both revel in your joyful times
and look forward to the morrow

I gage my days by your smile
I measure my life by your laughter
You're in my heart when I am away
and in my soul everyday

Let peaceful stars watch over you from above
let the wind against your face be mild
you teach us all how to love
you are my light and my child
