Sound of Silence

I cried out, but you did not hear.
I called, but you did not answer.
I reached out, but you fell back.

This could have been prevented,
I wish it had,
But you didn’t listen,
You didn’t react,
To the sound of silence.

Strangers comforted me more than you did,
After our loss in February.
I know you had your own pain,
But you could have helped me
As I helped you.

Inside I was screaming for you
To take my hand
Before my hand took my life.

But you did not read the signs,
You did not take the hint.
You did not listen,
To the sound of silence.
