Autumn Dance
A golden star rises at end of the day, As pink pearly sunlight dissolves down to grey. A true autumn beauty ascends the night sky, The evening star, Venus, a gem up on high. The eager leaves rustle as twilight descends. Through instinct they know what the evening portends. The magic gates open and fairies appear, With dancing and song this one night of the year. A dance hallway forms between two willow trees. The fairies pair off to show their expertise. The autumn leaves swirl as they join in the fun And then tumble earthward when their dance is done. The evening progresses, soon Venus will set. Celestial signal, lest fairies forget. By starlight and moonlight, the fairies won’t stop; With wild fairy fever, they dance ‘till they drop. All through the night, they dance as if possessed. At daybreak, the fair folk can go to their rest. The bright breaking lamp of the sun fills the sky The leaves flit and flutter as they wave goodbye. rhyming couplets 11 -11 meter ![]()
