Just a Part of the Journey

It's just a part of the journey
This place where you're standing right now
And you may not want to be there
But it's part of God's plan, somehow

The path that He's laid out before you
May be pleasant, or long, rough and steep,
May be uphill, through plain, onto mountain top
Or down into valleys so deep.

But in the deepest of places
Where shadows fall threatening and dark
It's hard to see where the road ahead leads.
It's bleak and desolate and stark.

You feel so lost and so lonely
That you want to be anywhere else
But the path that so long you've been  treading
Has now brought you into this place.

You're standing there with uncertainty
With your faith so sorely tried
Just wondering where your Saviour is;
Just wishing He'd come alongside.

My friend, just think of the places you've been;
From which you have already come;
And remember that He who brought you this far                              
Will bring you, by grace, through this one.

It's just a part of the journey
This place where you're standing right now.
You may not want to be there
But it's part of God's plan, somehow.

Just a part of the journey, my friend
And yes, the way may be rough
But while it's not easy to be there
Just know that His grace is enough.

It's just a part of the journey
Just a part of His plan;
Just where He needs you He's placed you
So reach out, take hold of His hand.
