The promise of cold comes in a howl
Hot days long gone make my mood foul Endless drifts of snow blown about my town Why does the winter wind come around? Intermittently, 'tween seasons of warmth Never bringing heat when it comes from the North Don't get caught outside when I come, it warns Says the wind, "put plastic on your windows" And I do, but it's cold when this wind blows! Yes, but the seasons bid me to come with Snow and frost to make mercury plummet Whispers on the wind bring promises of cold I tell it to stop but it says "No! No! I won't, I can't I'm just too old To stop bringing the promised snow Every winter I howl and storm; the Reason I can't quit: It's become my norm
