Sex & the City From a Young Perspective
Just my opinion.

The reason I find Sex & the City so enjoyable is the guys.  I'll elaborate.  With exception to Aidan, and some of Samantha's beau's, they're not ever remotely attractive.  That must sound odd coming from a 16 year old girl.  But honestly, it adds a touch of realism.  Sure at first it bothered me, and ofcourse I'd rather spend 11:30 on a Friday night watching Jude Law romance middle aged women, because usually, I find hope much more enjoyable than realism.  But as I've gotten older, there are less and less Jude Law's and more and more Mr. Big's.
The touch of realism I previously described,  is the first step to putting an end to the false hope, used to allure the desperate kind.  And I know as I have, though not subconciosly, fallen for this trap time and time again.
Sex & the City in some ways does just the opposite.  Take Carrie; smart, funny, successful, extremely fashionable.  She has everything going for her, yet during the introduction or the Big character (who I often confust with Mr. Bean) she describes him as out of her league.  Take Charlotte; pretty, in fantastic shape, always positive.  Every guy's dream.  Yet she was at one point trapped in a loveless marriage, only afterwards falling in love with a short bald man.
The only exception ofcourse being Samantha.  I did not consider her to be the best looking out of the girls, yet somehow she scored the most and the best.  It sounds strange, and not completely fitting compared to my previous description of the show.  You may call it bad casting.  Though it may seem contradicting, I think this only adds to the relistic quality of the show.  Just as it is in real life, there is a certain attitude that is seen in the desired girl.  Some have it, some don't.  What we do know about this so called "heir" is that it can not be aquired, it can not be described, men see it without realizing it, and women turn green with envy when they struggle to do what men can so easily do.  It's a classic scenario really.
I love Sex & the City.  Really, I do.  In a "even though this is as close to real as it gets, I sure as hell hope my life is nothing like this" kind of way.  It's true love.
