Perpetual Emotion
To Rod, my darling husband, my valentine. Our love story.

We met, nineteen sixty-two on the first of December.
In sixty-three our first St.Valentine's day I remember.
An unsigned card came, I knew by whom it was sent
By the words, unknown then if they were really meant.

Cycle rides and country walks and as passions grew,
Cuddling up close, while Elvis sang ‘I’ll be loving you’.
Teenagers in love, every moment we’d both seize,
When we kissed goodnight, I’d tremble at the knees.

Sitting in the cinema, our date each Saturday night,
Reflected in your eyes, a shining love, star-bright.
A romantic walk home, humming the film title’s tune
Holding hands, frequent stops, kisses beneath the moon.

Dreams came true, we married in nineteen sixty seven.
On our honeymoon I thought, I’d died and gone to heaven.
Golden sunny days and silver-fingered moonlit nights
Newly-found married love, sent us soaring to the heights.

Through the years our passion has surged like an ocean.
Caring, friendship deepened, became a perpetual emotion.
We have something special, it’s been present from the start,
Your love stirs my very soul, I love you with all my heart.

Caresses that inflame, smouldering looks that truly melt,
I do believe, that in love, a lucky hand I have been dealt.
Thrilling to sensual touch, gentle lips on welcoming skin,
Learning together, we let our love shine out from within.

In company only we understand, our code, secret exchanges,
Excitement rises still, when a surprise one of us arranges.
A special meal, yellow roses, or tickets for a theatre show,
Our candle-lit wedding rings radiate a warm and golden glow.

This love-entwined St. Valentine’s day is number forty four,
Our children are now grown, so much loving has gone before,
Closely we sit, fingers linked, snuggle, to an emotive Elvis song,
Pulses quicken, our eyes smile and we know our love’s life-long.
