Thankyou

Our hearts can ride a roller coaster
of raw emotions, day by day.
So we've written a poem, a tribute of sorts,
to explain what we're trying to say.

We have many children, who live here with us,
not all, of our long marriage, made.
We chose some with supervision of DOCS,
some came for a visit, then stayed.

The 'Rainbow Family', made trendy by stars,
has been with us for a few years.
Ours, comprised of a spectrum of hues,
deals with love and hope, trust and some fears.

Heartbreak will come every once in a while,
these kids have had a hard life.
The drugged and abused, suicidal bemused,
and those who just get into strife.

Some just need a home to lay their sweet heads,
often comfort and love, they have missed.
We build with them trust, self respect and the like,
And it's we who have truly been blessed.

When they go home, our hearts break in two,
but they must, and we understand this.
We know they're okay, from the work we have done,
and we wish them a life filled with bliss.

So we hope you now know, what we're trying to say,
our ride is not always much fun.
But the outcome is joy and that is our aim,
when our story is all said and done.

To each one of these children, you know who you are,
thank you so much for opening our eyes.
From that deepest of place, where our love for you is,
we dedicate this, to you guys.
