Loss
If you know it will hurt, is it still worth doing?

The distance has torn you from my heart.
Our letters, sealed with love,
can never replace the words
whispered through a patch of air
far smaller than the sky
that is stretched between us.
Whose lips do you kiss now,
over there on the other side of existence?
Not my business, any more,
And yet it matters.
Ten thousand miles of ocean
cannot dilute the memories.
They are seared in my mind,
a brand eternally in my heart.
We read the contract,
and signed the disclaimer.
“We accept no responsibility
for personal injury or loss.”
You are my loss,
and my gain.
