Betrayed Stealthy and quick It boils up from under Anger Where does it come from A day can flow along nicely Like a sail in a breeze Something gets said Trapped Trapped like a fly Trapped in your own mess Betrayed, floundering Caught by your own pessimism Reflected back In the echoes Of your own sentiment spilling From the lips of a friend People are fallible Relationships, labyrinths Who is to blame The friend to whom you spoke Too freely The friend to whom you trusted With too much dirty laundry This friend misreading This trust This friend may be hurt This friend may be resentful This friend expecting more On the skirts of this openness Who is to blame Yourself for unloading Yourself for oversharing The primary relationship Yourself for neglecting Not keeping council Too easily resentful For the basic human fallibility About to be forgiven In the friendship In the marriage.
