A Happy Memory
leave before things turn ugly

It’s not that I think you’re not true,
Or that I don’t love you
But I think that there is
Someone else
For both, me and you.

I never asked you to come back to me,
Never made you believe ‘we’ could be,
I never held against you the broken promises;
Anything which went amiss;
We were two kids, wild ‘n’ free.

Why is it that you only call
When you feel like you’re going to fall?
A friend is who you need,
And that I can be;
Or my back is against the wall.

The time has come to say goodbye,
You be strong, and I won’t cry;
Let ‘us’ just be
A happy memory
Treasured in our hearts and minds.
