(Set to music) The lone teardrop travels South From the corner of my eye-- And past my mouth But I won't let you see it go Will shield it from watchers As it flows-- On its journey There's a river of tears behind these eyes And sometimes they shine But they don't cry 'Cause I won't let you near to see Just what lovin' you Does to me I'll conceal this lone teardrop-- From you How long will this dam hold? Sometimes I fear it'll burst And tears will flow Then I swallow hard and take a breath Turn my head and hold my chest And hide that little teardrop-- As it goes
