Look at Me

"Presume not that I am the thing I was"
                                -Shakespeare

A dozen changes you do not see,
yet, they are a part of me.

You see only what you've always seen.

Never daring to see the changes
that are a part of me.

Look again and you will see
I am not what I used to be.

Look again and you will see
I am not who I used to be.

Changes made,
Face unchanged.

Yet, never deeper than
the surface you will look.

To see who I have become to be,
from what was once
what I could be.

Even the oceans
underwater change,
even though they appear the same.

Will you dive into the sea,
to see the changes I made to me?

After writing this poem, I decided to open a
contest to see what others create from the quote above.
