"It's my life!" she screamed in anger As she slammed the bedroom door "I can do what I want!" Is what we heard her roar With a sigh I shake my head Wondering where I went wrong Life was much easier When she just wanted to tag along "You can't make me go!" he yelled "I just don't believe in God I'm not going to go back to church I don't care if you think I'm odd!" And as he stomped and carried on I wonder when he changed Life sure was much easier When we thought the same "It's not your business anyhow... I'm old enough to know my own mind" I shake my head and wonder When they stopped being kind It scares me how young they are And how they want to go Life was much easier Before they started to grow "I love you both", I heard her say As she held her baby close "Thank you for your patience and love As I was trying to grow" I look around at my children Now grown and on their own Life was much easier When they were both at home
