NavWorks Press presents the 2009 Pride In Poetry Prize A prize of $300 for top poem, $100 for second choice, and fifty other poems will be selected for publication by NavWorks Press in a high quality paperbound anthology. This contest and the resulting publication is an enterprise in the literary world designed to promote poetry and the writing arts. All poetic forms and styles will be considered for the contest except the following: We are not looking for any erotic or sexually explicit poetry, nor are we looking for poetry that is sinister, gory, or glorifies death and tragedy. We do welcome any dark poetry that is realistic about sensitive subjects and tragic situations of life and living that speaks honestly of the condition of man and the yearning in man for answers and solutions. This kind of dark poetry does not relish darkness, death, and despair as if it is an acceptable or tolerable thing, but rather, leaves the reader in hope of the possibilities of overcoming these dilemmas and issues through understanding and awarness. All domestic and international entries will be accepted in English. Submit your poem of 50 LINES OR LESS with a $7 entry fee, and $4 for each additional poem. There is no limit to the number of poems you can submit. Several poems may be selected for publication from multiple entries. Poems submitted by mail must be paid by money order or check postmarked by September 30, 2009. Make your check or money order payable to NavWorks Press in US dollars, or submit and pay electronically from outside the USA (see below). Poems submitted electronically by email must be paid by credit card or electronic check per the instructions given below. Both domestic and international entries can be paid via electronic check or credit card through the PayPal system.
