Telephone Lines
Bittersweet poem centered on telephone wires.

Telephone Wires

I see the miles of telephone wires,
all the souls that ride their length.
Soon mine will ride as well,
too loved for strength.

Against my ear the familiar
plastic resistance.
The phone lines a painful sort of sign,
implying distance.
