Broken Wings
When the Faith is betrayed...

Avg Rating: (16)

The flight that took her to lofty heights
brought her down with death's embrace.

She had dreams of touching the sky
but in the process, lost her Earth.

With complete faith in the blue of the cosmos,
she opened her wings and took a glide.

Taking in the beauty spread below,
she smiled at her luck and swelled with pride.

What did she know of what lay next?

The silent predator took an aim,
one shot and his job was done.

Falling down from the sky,
one could hear her piercing cries.

The fear, the shock, the pain she underwent.
The endless blue of the sky caused her fate,
It made her red shine through.

The world loved her vibrant colour,
her shrill cries for freedom, music to their ears.

Umpteen attempts and pleadings later,
suffocated, she took her last breath.
That bird with broken wings.
