The Greatest Compliment
thoughts on my stepdaughter and my insecurity of being stepmom.

I ache,
Wishing for recognition.
Changed my life,
to welcome you in.
Raising you,
the best I can.

I wonder,
How your mother
could neglect you.
Pushing you,
aside carelessly.

I cry,
when you cry.
How mommy forgot,
to say goodbye.

I smile,
at your achievements.
Learning more each day.
Growing up,
before my eyes.

I achieve,
contentment, satisfaction
and honestly feel blessed.
You colored me a rainbow,
and wrote "mommy"
at the top.
