Document 2: hands shake
a feeling of terrible sadness and pleading for the world

my head reals and my heart aches,
my eyes cry and my hands shake.
do you understand? do you know?
the pain that comes when the soldiers go.
husbands, wives, fathers, mothers,
daughters, sons, lovers, brothers.
do you understand?do you know?
what its like to let your love go?

Soldiers your families are proud of you,
we all hope its what you really want to do,
so come back safe and comeback sound,
and know that we wish you were around,
it takes the most selfless souls to sacrifice,
but i don't understand and so i ask you nice,
how could you let your love go,
oh soldier how could you leave your love and go.

oh i know it is a righteous cause,
peace and freedom but i give pause,
what about your mothers who bore you,
what about your fathers who helped raise you too,
what about your children who still need you in their lives
what about the love of your husbands and your wives.
oh the cause must be righteous enough,
but what cause is more righteous than love.

i ask the leaders of all great soveriegns please,
the whole world is on its knees,
no more fighting let it be resolved,
lets finally prove that we've evolved,
let the weapons be put to rest,
use your ears and your mouth to your best.
look up the word empathy,
translate it to others as need be.

oh for a moment please
if you'd let the gunfire quiet and cease
just listen silently
you hear a word so soft and sweet.... peace.
