be who you are

You be who you are
I'm what you want me to be
lap dog or hand puppet
some new accessory

I could be a king
dignified and brave
at your word I regress
back to my natural state

If you taste for the seasons
for early summer or fall
you'll be the winter
I will show you them all

Tell me to teach you
I will show you my mind
I sit as a pupil
or put all thought aside

Like the beat of a drum
we move in time
crashing as the ocean
or gently walking the line

Every day that is passing
like wishes on the stars
I'll be what you want
just be who you are
