Nightmares

I heard a shot
I heard a bang
I was confused
And wondering
I looked up
As the bell rang
I was stunned
Still pondering
You came tumbling
Down the stairs
You were in your underwear
You were lying in a pool of blood
I would change things
If i could.

Nightmares nightmares
Every night
Always give me such a fright
They’re so vivid
Oh so real
I wish they weren’t so surreal

I just stared at your corpse
I was rooted to the spot
I had to phone the police of course
To inform them of this plot.
You took your life
Why i ask
Was your smile a playful mask
Was there anything
I could have done
To stop you from triggering the gun.

Nightmares nightmares
Every night
Always give me such a fright
They’re so vivid
Oh so real
I wish they weren’t so surreal

I woke up in a cold sweat
The pillow and quilt wringing wet
You were lying by my side
Smiling at me
Eyes open wide.
Nightmares nightmares
Every night
Always give me such a fright
They’re so vivid
Oh so real
I wish they weren’t so surreal
