To post or not to post that is the question. Is it nobler of the mind and spirit to perfect before posting, or to post before perfecting? Should I spend great time on each chapter, or churn them out with the greatest speed at which my imagination and time allows?
I dream of the day when I can achieve quality of expression, clarity of grammar, completeness, and an entertaining storyline without a thousand and one rewrites. So easy to get one or two, and lose the others.
What will separate me from my dream of writing? Shall reviews, interruptions, or misspent words? Nay, the prize glows like the fabled dragon’s treasure hoard. A universe of a thousand tales scrolls across the landscape of dreary existence. Endless heroes, villains, and characters of dubious qualities variously making peace and war, love and hate. Each capturing the completeness of what it means to be human, lifting it above the mundane, and making it magnificent as well as ugly.
Dear Thoreau, not all men need "to live lives of quiet desperation." Take that Mr. Simplifier! Meaning is obtainable which makes existence more than you live, and then you die.
Write on, when the journey seems too long. Write on, when others think you too slow to “get it.” Hold fast and learn well. The final blast of eternity's trumpet will echo across my graveyard one day, but it has not done so yet!
