In my family there are many who have served their country with pride. It has always been an honor to wear a poppy every Remembrance Day--to show respect and appreciation to all our soldier...past, present and future. When I moved to Texas my poppy got lost There was a little red poppy That I wore with pride It helped me remember Those who fought--and died Who sacrificed their freedom So I would not lose mine That little red poppy Worn to remember that time I miss the little red poppy I wore on my coat Placed there each November With pride--there was no doubt I wore it to honor Those who fought for you and me And for those who died To keep our land free A little red poppy-- Such a small thing But worn with the reverence As my special wedding ring For it is an honor to know There are heroes who believe Their sacrifices were worth Freedom for you and me
