She had no mother to love her Mama died when she was five And Daddy was so full of grief One wonders how she survived The Children's Aid came and took her Placed her from home to home Seemed like all this little girl did Was continue to roam One day she ran away Decided to live on the street No roof over her head There was no food for her to eat The time came and she married But still no mother's love Her mother-in-law didn't approve She wasn't a blessing from above Now you wouldn't think this poor girl Would ever turn out to be The very best mother in the world Who always gave love to my siblings and me She's a woman of great compassion And of great strength too A woman of high moral character She'd do anything to help me or you I only wish everyone in the world could be As blessed as we have been To have a mother who loves us so much Who is mother...and my best friend Love you Mom...you're the best!
