As It Snows
A love poem.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: Once upon a time...in the land of...real life, a young couple fell deeply and completely in love. After many challenges and years of waiting for each other, the young man came "home" one winter break to claim his future bride. The night was unseasonable warm and the snow fell like stars from heaven. There was magic in the air as the two once again pledged their love and their lives to a future together.

I wish I could find the words
That would express exactly how I feel
As we walk along this empty road
The world seems so surreal

There is something magical
In the falling of the snow
As we pass under the streetlight
We watch it as it glows

Somehow it seems like God is here
Dropping stars down on us
To show us this love is real
And in it we can trust

That it is the kind that lasts
"Forever and a day"
The kind that knows that deep love
Last long after dating games are played

But I can't believe you're here
Finally next to me
Holding hands with promises
So near it's hard to breathe

I tremble as you reach out
To brush the snow from my cheek
And my heart stops as your lips settle
On mine as I start to speak

I know you are the one
My heart tells me so
And as we walk we stop to kiss
Under the streetlight as it snows
