forever is never forever
about my parents who considered me a chore

forever is never forever

remember when you said those vows to one another,
did they mean a thing,
or did you even think at all.
you said in those vows it was forever,
but then i remember,
forever is never forever.

you tell me you did it for me,
but did you think twice,
of what this could do to me,
your first born child.

when you yelled and screamed
did you mean to aim it toward me,
or was it just the easy way out.
as a kid i lay awake at night,
as i heard you both argue
over whose turn it was to care for me,
just like i was a chore.

sure i remember times when we were happy together,
like the trip to carrowinds
in that picture
we looked so happy.
just that once,
i wished it could last forever,
but forever is never forever.
