Seeking Fairy Tales It’s poisonous luxury, to linger on fairy tales, when reality lurks outside the door. If you look too hard, for ‘happily ever after’, you will find yourself failing, when it’s fantasy dappled perfection, you’re looking for. The princess no longer resides in some topless tower, she’s sitting in the corner, of some quiet coffee shop. Prince Charming isn’t going to appear in need’s hour. He’ll have been there all along, lifting you up after you fall. If you have spent all your time building castles in the clouds, will you overlook the beauty before you now? Apple of your desire, ruby red, heavy in the hand; delicious, succulent, sweet. A crimson star shines. So it would seem Poison sweet, the apple seed, when sought after waking. Risking for illusion’s sake, a taste of temptation’s bitter juice. Allowing hopes to drive you towards an unreachable, but seductive horizon, will leave you ragged from fruitless struggle. Fairy tale endings won’t happen today, there’s more to living than waiting. Embrace the best that’s there for the taking, embrace what will still be there after waking.
