A quick comment on my cats' behaviors with each other.

Have you ever noticed the way that cats "speak" to each other? I have two all white male cats who are brothers, and they seem to have a language all of their own. When it is playtime, they start by flicking their tales at the floor in order to get the other's attention. If that isn't working, then whichever one is initiating the play will make a low guttural almost purr-like sound. That usually gets the brother's attention, and the chase is on from there.

Running, wrestling, jumping, the two of them will go on for a good hour at a time before they take a break. As soon as one is ready to start playing again, they will make the out-loud purring sound at each other again. Interestingly enough, if one is getting too feisty, the other will let it be known by emitting a very high squeaking noise. The other automatically stops, almost as if he knows he's been told, "Enough!"

Through sounds, looks, and body-language, my two guys definitely have a special vocabulary all their own. All it takes is a bit of observation, and patience, and you too can begin to understand "cat-speak".
