What I Want
This what I want. Am I being unreasonable?

WHAT I WANT

You ask what do I want .
You ask why can't you find out what I want.
Are you blind? Are you deaf?
I have been speaking it
I have been writing it on the sky
in mile-high letters.
How can I tell you any more
than I have already?

What do I want? I want
to be safe in an unsafe world. I want
to be sure where there is no certainty
about anything. I want you to commit
to promises you may not be able to keep
through no fault of your own.
Is that fair?

I want to know there will never be
a thing over which we have no control..
I want to know you will never change your mind,
that you will never die and never go away.
Can you promise that? Can anyone?
I want to know more about what is in your mind
than you know yourself.
I want transparency from you.
I want you to have no hiding places
where I cannot go. Being risky scares me
and I do not want to be afraid any more.
That's what I want.

I want what I cannot have. What does not exist.
I want to know where we are going, where we will be
a year from now. I want to know for sure
the choices I make are the right ones.
I want guarantees. The only thing scarier
than facing the future with you
is facing it without you.

I want to go forward with you
and walk into the dark with no
guarantees. As long as it is with you,
that's what I want.
