A BLAZE OF GLORY

Shock and Awe, as bombs burst in the air,
while we at home cheer on our soldiers there
who fight with pride, now some rue the day,
that blaze of glory was soon to fade away.

Today there are people who line the street
who want this war to end, accept defeat.
What they don't see, what they don't know,
that we have to let the seed of freedom grow.

We've lost our sons, our brothers and dads
to a war-torn Hell, those brave young lads.
Yet those who live on will take up the fight
and we still believe in what is just and right.

We see the news and hear the cries
that we were wrong in so many eyes;
Yet our efforts there are not in vain,
the dream of freedom will still remain.

The soldiers will fight, and some will die
to give beleaguered people a right to try
to have the rights we take as our due,
Read your history, it is nothing new.

Those who fight understand the need
to end the terror, its growth and seed.
We stand and defend to the last man
the peace we crave for our homeland.

When the war is over, victory won,
we'll welcome home daughter and son;
our flags will fly high, for we believe
they deserve our thanks to receive.

It's a very old and bittersweet story
of those who fought in a blaze of glory.
Stand proud and strong, brave and true;
peace and freedom depend on you.
